Whose insurance policy is it?
Your insurance policy is a contract between you, your employer and the insurance company. All charges are your responsibility, whether your insurance company pays or not. Not all services are covered benefits in all contracts and you should check directly with your insurance company for the extent of your coverage. The telephone number is normally located on the back of your insurance card.

What insurance plans does the practice take?
We do make changes on a yearly basis of the insurance plans we will be accepting for the following year. If it has been several months or years since you have been to our office, please call your insurance company to make sure we are providers with your plan or you can contact our office. If we don't accept your insurance you may still be seen if you pay for the visit. You may then file the claim on your own and many times receive out of network reimbursement from your insurance company.

Will you file my claim for me?
If the correct insurance information is provided to Dermatology Specialists, PSC at the time of service, we will submit your claim to your insurance carrier. We file all primary insurance companies we are under contract with as a courtesy to you our patient. We do not file secondary unless you are under Medigap through your Medicare Plan. If the insurance company does not pay the account within three months, you will be responsible for payment, or for assisting us in resolving your account with your insurance company. We provide services to you, our patient, and you are ultimately responsible for payment to us.

Payment for services is due at the time when services are rendered including co-payments, outstanding balances, products and cosmetic procedures such as Botox® leg vein therapy, skin tag removal, chemical peels and laser treatments.

What if my insurance claim is denied?
We are not a party to your contract with your insurance company therefore we have no control over coverage decisions. Denial of payment by your insurance company does not relieve you of responsibility for your health care costs.

What about my co-pay?
Your insurance co-pays are due at time of appointment. We can not bill you for co-pays.

How can I pay my bill?
To help meet your financial obligations to our doctors we accept cash, personal check, MasterCard and Visa. We understand that temporary financial problems may affect timely payment of your balance. We encourage you to contact us so that we can assist you in the management of your account with us.

What if I don't have insurance?
Any uninsured patient is welcome in our practice. But then you must pay for your services the day of the visit or reschedule your appointment.

Do I need a Referral?
If your insurance plan requires a referral from your primary care physician, it is your responsibility to obtain this referral or you will be responsible for your total bill.
